China announced that from January 1, 2026, it will lower provisional import tariffs on 935 products to promote green transformation, enhance public wellbeing, and encourage domestic technological innovation. The move supports sectors such as AI, advanced materials, and medical products.
The plan aims to foster high-quality development and self-reliance by leveraging both domestic and global markets. Certain products will see MFN rates reinstated to prompt domestic industries to move up the value chain and enhance competitiveness.
Additionally, China will introduce new tariff lines for items like intelligent robots, bio-aviation kerosene, and forest-cultivated ginseng, further supporting innovation, the circular economy, and sustainable growth while maintaining trade cooperation with international partners.
