China’s Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with US Ambassador to China, David Perdue, on November 20 to discuss bilateral economic and trade relations in detail. During the meeting, Wang stressed that trade and business should act as bridges for mutual benefit, not friction.
Highlighting recent developments, Wang conveyed China’s concerns about US unilateral tariffs, restrictions on investment, export controls, visa reviews, and clauses affecting third-party agreements. He also outlined China’s position on the Nexperia matter and sought dialogue on implementing prior trade consultation outcomes.
Wang underscored that China’s policies are consistent and stable, guided by the newly adopted proposals of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30). He emphasized advancing socioeconomic development, promoting common prosperity, and sharing development opportunities with global partners.
Both sides discussed the importance of fostering mutual understanding, maintaining economic consultation mechanisms, and managing trade uncertainties to strengthen stability for both countries and the global economy.
