Zong has launched Pakistan’s first 5G Customer Facilitation and Sales Kiosk. The facility is now operational at Islamabad International Airport.
The initiative marks a major step in Pakistan’s digital transformation. It also reflects growing influence from China-backed telecom advancements.
The project was developed in collaboration with the Pakistan Airports Authority. It aims to modernise airport services and improve passenger experience.
The kiosk is placed in a high-traffic area. It allows travellers to access high-speed connectivity immediately after arrival. This supports real-time communication and digital navigation.
Passengers can also use ride-hailing apps and cashless payment systems. These services are part of Pakistan’s expanding digital ecosystem.
Zong officials said the launch is part of a broader 5G strategy. The company is focusing on better customer experience and infrastructure growth. It also plans to integrate Artificial Intelligence into its services.
Faheem Durrani said airports are key digital entry points. He noted that travellers now expect instant connectivity.
He added that the kiosk ensures smooth integration into Pakistan’s digital network. This begins from the moment passengers land.
Officials from the Pakistan Airports Authority also welcomed the initiative. They described it as part of a wider modernisation plan. The goal is to align airports with global aviation standards.
They said 5G-enabled facilities will improve efficiency. They will also help create smarter airport systems.
Zong plans to expand this project to other major cities. Future locations include airports in Lahore and Karachi. This indicates a broader nationwide rollout.
The initiative supports Pakistan’s long-term connectivity goals. It also highlights the role of Chinese technology in shaping regional telecom development.
