The Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Chinese firm. The agreement aims to increase boiled meat exports to China.
The MoU was signed at the Livestock Complex in Lahore. It also includes several local exporters. The goal is to improve production and meet international standards.
The Chinese partner, Global International, will work with six Pakistani exporters. These include Taj Meats, Syed Traders, Abdeen International, Khan Dairy, Go Foods, and PEMPCO.
The agreement focuses on value-added meat exports. It also aims to improve processing quality. This will help Pakistan access more global markets.
Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said the deal will support sector growth. It is also expected to increase foreign exchange earnings.
He added that the Punjab government is introducing reforms in the livestock sector. These efforts are being made under Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Kirmani highlighted the “Livestock Card” program. It provides interest-free loans to farmers. Thousands of farmers have already benefited from this initiative.
He said around 300,000 animals are being fattened under the program. This has significantly increased meat production across the province.
The minister noted that public-private collaboration is key. It helps boost value addition and expand exports of livestock products.
Ahmad Aziz Tarar also shared updates on reforms. These include improvements in the mutton sector and veterinary services.
He said mobile veterinary units are being introduced. Women’s economic empowerment programs are also underway. Youth internship opportunities are expanding as well.
Overall, the MoU is a step toward modernizing the livestock sector. It also strengthens trade ties between Pakistan and China.
