Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the draft of the 15th Five-Year Plan and the upcoming government work report. Leaders emphasized sustainable economic growth, technological innovation, and social development for 2026–2030.
The previous Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) achieved major milestones, overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges while maintaining strong progress. The 15th plan focuses on green development, modernization, and strengthening economic foundations for long-term prosperity.
Officials highlighted proactive fiscal and monetary policies, promotion of innovation, strengthening domestic demand, and advancement in science and technology. The plan also aims to ensure social equity, stable employment, and development of high-quality productive forces.
Additionally, reforms, high-standard global engagement, and environmental sustainability are prioritized. Governance reforms and performance accountability were stressed to ensure the plan’s effective implementation and to achieve China’s modernization goals by 2035.
