Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday emphasized the need to expand trade and investment ties between Pakistan and Australia, describing agriculture and livestock as key sectors for future cooperation. He welcomed the positive momentum in bilateral relations between the two countries.
The prime minister shared these views during a meeting with newly appointed Australian High Commissioner Tim Kane, who paid a courtesy call on him in Islamabad. Shehbaz Sharif also welcomed Australian interest in Pakistan’s mining and minerals sector, highlighting Reko Diq as a major example of the country’s untapped potential.
Prime Minister Shehbaz extended condolences over the recent terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney and reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of terrorism in all its forms. He also praised the role of the Pakistani diaspora in Australia, noting strong people-to-people ties and shared cultural links, particularly through cricket.
