President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering peace, tolerance, and mutual respect, while tackling the root causes of radicalization and violence. On the occasion of the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism, he called for global cooperation to address conditions that fuel terrorism and extremism.
Highlighting Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, the president emphasized that lasting peace requires education, dialogue, economic opportunity, good governance, and the promotion of pluralism. He also stressed the protection of civilians in conflict zones, including women and children in illegally occupied territories like Kashmir and Palestine.
The president underlined that preventing violent extremism demands a collective international effort that respects human rights, diversity, and sovereignty. Pakistan’s National Policy on Prevention of Violent Extremism (NPVE 2024) represents a shift from reactive measures to proactive, society-wide approaches grounded in human rights, rule of law, and social justice. Zardari called for building a world where peace triumphs over violence and dialogue replaces division for the benefit of future generations.
