Pakistan has been formally invited to join the US-led Gaza Peace Initiative (BoP), aimed at overseeing post-war reconstruction, governance, and security in Gaza. The invitation was extended to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif by US President Donald Trump, highlighting Pakistan’s recognized role in international efforts toward peace and stability in Palestine.
The Board of Peace (BoP) is set to serve as the central authority during Gaza’s transition period, coordinating humanitarian relief, rebuilding infrastructure, and stabilizing governance. High-profile figures including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and World Bank President Ajay Banga are among the founding members. Countries joining the BoP may contribute financially to secure permanent membership, with each member having voting rights under the chairman’s supervision.
Pakistan’s potential participation reflects its long-standing, principled support for Palestine and offers an opportunity to engage in practical peace-building efforts. Islamabad is reviewing the BoP’s structure and mandate carefully, emphasizing humanitarian aid, accountability, and reconstruction. Analysts suggest Pakistan’s involvement could enhance transparency and effectiveness in post-conflict governance, while maintaining alignment with international law and UN resolutions.
