Pakistan and Tunisia have agreed to enhance global coordination during the 4th Round of Bilateral Political Consultations held in Tunis. The dialogue focused on strengthening cooperation at the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and other multilateral platforms where both nations share common positions on key global issues.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Additional Foreign Secretary (Africa) Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, while the Tunisian side was represented by Ambassador Slim Ghariani, Director General for Asia. Both delegations reviewed the full scope of bilateral relations, including political engagement, high-level visits, trade, investment, defence collaboration, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
The two sides also discussed boosting economic cooperation ahead of the 10th Joint Commission Meeting scheduled in Islamabad in 2026. Regional developments, including the situation in the Middle East, Palestine, and North Africa, were reviewed in detail.
During his visit, Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan also met Mohamed Ben Ayed, Secretary of State at the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties and expanding cooperation across all sectors. The year also marks 67 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Tunisia.
