Pakistan is set for a major digital transformation as the government highlights new advancements in connectivity, 5G readiness, and AI-driven cloud services, supported by China through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima emphasized the country’s progress in digital infrastructure, including the launch of new submarine cables, expansion of fibre networks, and the removal of right-of-way charges.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has strengthened cybersecurity measures, addressed illegal SIM issues, and improved customer service through audits and re-verification systems. Minister Fatima praised Zong’s role in advancing the Connect 2030 agenda and the operationalisation of AI-based cloud services expected by mid-next year.
CPEC’s digital corridor and enhanced optical fibre connectivity were highlighted as pivotal to Pakistan’s tech-driven growth. The minister also welcomed the blockchain agreement for degree verification, operationalising the Digital Silk Route, and future plans for Smart Cities. Government and industry backing, especially through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), has positioned Pakistan on a fast track toward technological advancement and global digital integration.
