The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) has announced the deployment of high-tech drones to strengthen search and rescue operations for fishing boats and vessels involved in sea accidents. These unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are equipped with advanced cameras and sensors to monitor rough seas, high waves, and emergency situations.
The drones can operate up to 200 nautical miles offshore and transmit live footage to rescue teams, enabling faster and more efficient response. In addition, the UAVs will deliver life-saving jackets and floating rescue equipment to stranded individuals at sea, significantly enhancing operational effectiveness.
Deputy Director General PMSA, Commodore Syed Nauman Ali Baig, stated that the new drones would join the agency’s operational fleet by the end of 2026. This technological upgrade is expected to improve Pakistan’s maritime safety, ensuring timely assistance to those in distress while reducing response time in emergencies.
