The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has confirmed that 910 people have died and 1,044 others have been injured in rain and flood-related incidents across Pakistan since June 26. Victims include 520 men, 149 women, and 241 children.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been the hardest-hit province with 504 fatalities, followed by 234 in Punjab, 58 in Sindh, 41 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 38 in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, 26 in Balochistan, and 9 in Islamabad.
Scale of Destruction
Floodwaters have destroyed or damaged 7,850 homes and killed more than 6,180 livestock, deepening the crisis for already vulnerable communities. NDMA reports that over 2.4 million people have been rescued nationwide through 4,594 operations, with Punjab leading evacuations.
Authorities have also distributed 173,569 relief items, including tents, blankets, ration bags, food packs, and safe drinking water, while establishing 2,326 relief and medical camps across the country.
Fresh Weather Warning
Looking ahead, NDMA has warned of another rain-producing system developing over India’s Gujarat and Rajasthan, expected to impact Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan. Heavy to very heavy rainfall could trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas, especially in Koh-e-Suleiman and southern Punjab, until September 10.
