China sends the first batch of emergency earthquake relief for Afghanistan landed in Kabul on Sunday, delivered aboard two Y-20 aircraft of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force. The shipment carried tents, blankets, and other essential supplies for quake-affected regions, particularly Kunar province.
A formal ceremony marked the aid handover, attended by Bao Xuhui, Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, and Afghan officials, including Sharafuddin Muslim, Deputy Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development. Representatives from the Afghan Foreign Ministry, National Disaster Management Authority, and Red Crescent Society were also present.
Bao emphasised that the decision to dispatch emergency aid reflected Beijing’s solidarity with Afghanistan, highlighting China’s readiness to assist in difficult times. He expressed confidence that, under Afghan leadership, affected communities would rebuild and recover swiftly.
Sharafuddin Muslim welcomed the relief shipment, describing it as a vital lifeline for quake-hit families. He added that Afghan leaders and people deeply valued China’s timely support and would long remember this gesture of friendship.
