Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2026 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from August 30 to September 3.
The announcement came from Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian on Wednesday. Xi will also make state visits to Kyrgyzstan and Egypt during the five-day trip.
Xi to Discuss Regional and Global Issues
During the SCO summit, Xi will meet leaders from participating countries. They will discuss ways to deepen cooperation and address major international and regional issues.
The summit will provide an important platform for strengthening coordination among SCO members. It will also focus on shared development and regional stability.
State Visit to Kyrgyzstan
Xi will hold talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov during his visit. He will also attend several official events as part of the state visit.
Moreover, the visit is expected to strengthen China-Kyrgyzstan relations and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Xi to Visit Egypt After SCO Summit
Following his Kyrgyzstan visit, Xi will travel to Egypt for a state visit. It will mark his first state visit to the North African country in 10 years.
There, Xi will meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The two leaders will discuss bilateral relations and major international and regional issues.
Strengthening China’s Regional Engagement
Xi’s upcoming tour highlights China’s diplomatic engagement across Central Asia and the Middle East.
Furthermore, his participation in the SCO summit and visits to Kyrgyzstan and Egypt are expected to strengthen political coordination and bilateral cooperation.
