Pakistan is intensifying efforts to broaden its agricultural exports to China by exploring new high-demand product categories, officials said at the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai. The initiative aims to diversify trade beyond the country’s current key exports.
Currently, Pakistan exports rice, sesame seeds, seafood, fruits and vegetables, and boiled beef and dry fruits to China. Authorities are now working to finalize protocols for additional products such as maize and poultry, including chicken feet, which could significantly boost export volumes.
The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) coordinated the participation of 20 Pakistani enterprises at the expo, alongside several private companies that showcased their products independently due to limited pavilion space. Officials highlighted the growing commercial impact of the expo and the opportunities it presents for Pakistani businesses.
Successful companies like Hemani Herbal and Winza were recognized for their strong global presence. Hemani exports to over 85 countries and displayed more than 1,800 wellness and natural products, demonstrating Pakistan’s potential to compete internationally through quality, innovation, and branding.
Officials emphasized that this strategy aligns with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework, aiming to enhance trade balance, create value-added exports, and strengthen agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
