Pakistan and China have agreed to expand and deepen security cooperation following a high-level meeting in Beijing between Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chinese Interior Minister Wang Xiaohong.
The talks, which lasted over three hours, covered a wide range of issues including counterterrorism coordination, police training, cybercrime control, and protection of Chinese nationals working on development projects in Pakistan. Both sides decided to enhance institutional coordination and improve operational collaboration between their security agencies.
Officials said the two countries agreed to hold Joint Working Group meetings every three months, while interior ministers will meet annually to review progress. China expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s security arrangements for Chinese citizens and projects, while Pakistan highlighted the need for cooperation in advanced technologies, including AI-based tools, to address emerging security challenges.
The meeting also discussed expanding police training exchanges and strengthening professional capacity through shared expertise. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to long-term strategic partnership and closer security coordination.
