Amid rising security challenges and increased terrorist threats, the Pakistani government has approved a Rs50.9 billion ($180 million) package for strengthening national defence and security measures. The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, cleared these allocations during a meeting at the Finance Division.
The package includes Technical Supplementary Grants (TSG) of Rs100.3 million for the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control to maintain and repair defence equipment used by Federal Civil Armed Forces. An additional Rs841.56 million has been approved to support border operations, internal security, and law enforcement readiness.
The Defence Division received Rs50 billion for various approved projects of the Defence Services. Officials stated these measures aim to reinforce operational readiness, enhance border security infrastructure, and maintain nationwide law and order. The ECC also discussed reforms in the petroleum and agricultural sectors to encourage investment and improve efficiency.
