The China-Pakistan Mobile Library program officially opened at Pak-China Friendship School in Gwadar, launching a major literacy initiative. Students now have free access to hundreds of educational books, covering a variety of subjects, including topics from their curriculum. On the first day, over 500 students explored the mobile library and participated in reading activities designed to spark curiosity and a love for learning.
UNICEF, the Balochistan government, and local education authorities support the program. It aims to improve educational opportunities in Gwadar’s remote areas. The initiative encourages reading habits while also boosting critical thinking, creativity, and academic skills for students with limited access to quality resources.
Provincial lawmaker Hadiath ur Rehman, district education officials, and school administrators attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony. They praised the program as a key step toward enhancing literacy. Students expressed excitement over the variety of books, saying the initiative opened a new world of learning that they had not experienced before.
After starting at Pak-China Friendship School, the mobile library will visit more than 350 schools across Gwadar. It will reach thousands of children and promote a reading culture. The program also reflects the strong China-Pakistan collaboration in improving education and supporting community development.
