Beijing and Moscow advance parliamentary collaboration efforts as both sides reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen legislative exchanges during a Chinese delegation’s visit to Russia this week.
The delegation, led by Peng Qinghua, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, was received in Moscow, where meetings were held with Russia’s State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, Tatarstan’s Head Rustam Minnikhanov, and State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin.
In addition, the fourth meeting of the China-Russia joint working group on parliamentary cooperation was co-chaired by Peng and Alexander Babakov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma. It was emphasised that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, bilateral relations have entered what was described as their “best period in history.”
During the exchanges, it was underlined that Beijing and Moscow advance parliamentary collaboration efforts not only to enhance institutional coordination but also to contribute to the high-quality development of China-Russia ties. Transitional mechanisms were stressed as vital to ensuring that the consensus reached by the two presidents is implemented effectively at the legislative level.
From the Russian side, commitments were expressed to deepen strategic coordination with Beijing. It was reiterated that parliamentary exchanges would be expanded at all levels, and stronger cooperation mechanisms would be introduced to broaden the scope of bilateral engagement.
In this way, Beijing and Moscow advance parliamentary collaboration efforts as part of a broader strategy to enrich their partnership, demonstrating how legislative cooperation is being placed at the center of their diplomatic and strategic alignment.
