Russia, China announce reciprocal visa-free travel policy, a landmark step to boost tourism, business, and cultural exchanges. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, confirming that Moscow will match Beijing’s recent visa-free initiative for Russian citizens.
Putin described China’s move as “an outstanding decision” and stressed that Russia is ready to respond in kind. He called the policy a milestone that will strengthen people-to-people ties and expand opportunities for both nations.
China’s One-Year Visa-Free Trial for Russians
Earlier, Beijing launched a one-year trial visa exemption for Russian citizens holding ordinary passports. The scheme, valid from September 15, 2025, to September 14, 2026, allows Russians to stay for up to 30 days without a visa. Eligible purposes include tourism, business, family visits, cultural exchanges, and transit.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun welcomed the reciprocal step, noting that China values closer people-to-people connectivity. He said Beijing expects more Russian travellers to take advantage of the new arrangement.
Expanding Cooperation Beyond Tourism
