The Punjab government has launched fast-track property courts to help overseas Pakistanis settle land disputes more quickly and clearly. The initiative, introduced under the Punjab Special Courts (Overseas Pakistani Property) Act 2025, aims to protect property rights and ensure fair justice in cases of illegal possession or ownership conflicts.
The Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) announced that District and Additional District & Sessions Judges will serve as special court judges in every district. These new courts will reduce legal delays and make justice more accessible for Pakistanis living abroad.
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, in consultation with the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, approved the establishment of these courts. The move is part of the government’s plan to strengthen property protection and attract overseas investment.
Barrister Amjad Malik, Vice Chairperson of the Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab, praised the decision. He said the initiative will restore overseas Pakistanis’ confidence by providing quick solutions for property issues. Malik added that these courts will also help the government act firmly against land grabbers.
He noted that overseas Pakistanis play an important role in Punjab’s growth. The government, he said, remains fully committed to protecting their legal and economic rights. “This initiative reflects Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of a fair, transparent, and people-friendly Punjab,” Malik stated.
