Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that increasing exports remains central to Pakistan’s economic development and financial resilience. He made these remarks while chairing a review meeting on domestic export performance.
The prime minister assured that the government would continue extending maximum facilitation to exporters and business stakeholders, noting that higher exports directly strengthen foreign exchange reserves and economic confidence.
Emphasizing the role of small and medium-sized enterprises, PM Shehbaz said SMEs must be prioritized to widen Pakistan’s export base and create sustainable employment opportunities nationwide.
He directed the federal ministers for commerce, industry, production and national food security to visit exporters in key industrial and commercial hubs to better understand their concerns and ensure swift solutions.
The prime minister also stressed closer coordination with provincial governments, particularly for developing cold chain systems and other trade-related sectors. Officials briefed the meeting on export and import trends for FY2025–26 and ongoing policy measures to improve performance.
