In a rare diplomatic convergence, the Prime Minister engaged in a trilateral discussion with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The three leaders welcomed the recent ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing collective efforts to maintain stability and prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
During the summit, Prime Minister Sharif also met with King Abdullah II of Jordan, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
He highlighted Pakistan’s consistent stance on the Palestinian issue, underscoring that the country’s position is rooted in “justice and humanity.” The Prime Minister called for coordinated global action to end violence and secure the legitimate rights of Palestinians.
Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz attended the signing ceremony of the Gaza Peace Agreement, signed by U.S. President Donald Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The agreement aims to establish lasting peace and reconstruction in Gaza.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Shehbaz praised President Trump’s “visionary leadership” and once again nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize, acknowledging his diplomatic efforts in averting wars, including the de-escalation between Pakistan and India, and securing peace in multiple conflict zones.
Calling Trump “a genuine man of peace,” the Prime Minister said his role in preventing potential nuclear confrontation in South Asia and fostering peace in the Middle East would be remembered in history. He also commended the contributions of Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE for their roles in achieving the Gaza peace deal.
President Trump, in response, thanked the Prime Minister for his remarks and referred to Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir as his “favourite Field Marshal,” highlighting strong diplomatic camaraderie at the event.
