A Pakistani businessman, Aidi, has returned to Lhasa for the eighth time to participate in the China Xizang Tourism and Culture Expo. This year, he is showcasing onyx handicrafts.
The 6th China Xizang Tourism and Culture Expo opened in Lhasa on September 2. Pakistani exhibitors are presenting carpets, copper and brass handicrafts, gemstone jewellery, and other products.
Growing Demand for Pakistani Products
Aidi said local recognition of Pakistani products has increased with each visit. Pakistani carpets have gained particular popularity among consumers in the region.
Moreover, carpets from Pakistan and other countries have remained among the most sought-after products at previous editions of the expo.
This growing interest highlights new opportunities for Pakistani handicraft exporters in the Chinese market.
392 Enterprises Join the Expo
The exhibition brings together 392 enterprises from China, France, Australia, Indonesia, Nepal, and Canada.
The event features displays focused on Xizang’s industrial development. It also includes a sales area featuring plateau specialties, Chinese products, and international goods.
As a result, the expo provides international businesses with a platform to showcase products and explore new markets.
Expo Promotes Cultural Exchange
The event goes beyond commercial activity. It also provides a platform for cultural exchange between participating countries.
Many displayed crafts represent traditional industries and intangible cultural heritage. These include handwoven textiles and intricately crafted metalware.
Furthermore, Pakistani exhibitors use the event to introduce their cultural traditions to Chinese consumers.
Building Bridges Through Trade
For Aidi, repeated participation has created a strong connection with the local community. He praised the warmth and friendliness of people in Lhasa.
He also expressed hope that events like the expo would continue building understanding and mutual support between Pakistani and Chinese communities.
Overall, the growing presence of Pakistani exhibitors reflects expanding commercial and cultural links between Pakistan and Xizang.
