The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom (MoITT), alongside Ignite , National Technology Fund and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), unveiled the Pakistan Digital Sector Roadmap, signaling a significant stride toward the Prime Minister’s vision of a Digital Pakistan.
The event also highlighted the AI Wrapper Competition 2025 winners, translating the National AI Policy 2025 into actionable results. The two-day workshop involved government, academia, and private sector experts collaborating to design AI solutions for key national priorities including health, education, agriculture, finance, and governance.
The workshop outcomes will guide the establishment of the National AI Innovation Hub (NAIIH), aimed at fostering applied AI research, commercialization, entrepreneurship, and digital skill-building. Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized that the roadmap envisions a connected, inclusive, and future-ready Pakistan by 2035, structured around digital infrastructure, economy, governance, and society.
The AI competition attracted over 1,700 teams from 106 cities, including 33% female participation, across EdTech, HealthTech, Climate/AgriTech, GovTech, and FinTech categories, with prize money totaling PKR 8.7 million. Ignite CEO Rafique A. Buriro highlighted that these initiatives build an ecosystem turning policy into real-world impact.
Dr. Antonio García Zaballos of ADB praised the roadmap as a clear pathway for inclusive, innovation-led growth, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to its National AI Policy, the NAIIH, and collaborative partnerships to strengthen its digital economy.
