China has expressed concern over the recent escalation of tensions along the Thailand-Cambodia border, which followed a landmine explosion injuring Thai soldiers and reports of gunfire affecting Cambodian villagers. The incidents have raised worries about regional stability, prompting Beijing to call for calm and dialogue between the two nations.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stressed that, as a close neighbor and friend to both countries, China hopes Thailand and Cambodia will exercise restraint, avoid further provocations, and engage in constructive consultations. He encouraged both sides to make full use of existing bilateral mechanisms and find a mutually acceptable solution as quickly as possible.
Lin added that China remains committed to playing a supportive and mediating role in de-escalating tensions. Beijing emphasized the importance of maintaining regional peace, stability, and cooperation in Southeast Asia, highlighting that friendly dialogue and trust-building are essential to prevent further conflicts along the shared border.
