The Pakistan National Pavilion opened at the 2026 Southern China Book Fair in Guangzhou. The event ran from August 27 to 31 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex.

The pavilion featured Pakistani books, cultural exhibits, and literary works. It also highlighted the strong people-to-people ties between Pakistan and China.

Pakistan Expands Cultural Presence

Pakistan’s participation marked a broader presence at one of China’s major book fairs. The event brought together publishers and cultural institutions from China and other countries.

This year’s fair covered around 40,000 square meters. It featured 31 specialized pavilions and displayed more than 500,000 publications and cultural products.

Moreover, nearly 30,000 original foreign-language editions were presented at the event.

Books Build Cultural Bridges

At the Eurasian Pavilion’s opening ceremony, Pakistan’s Consul General in Guangzhou, Sardar Muhammad, highlighted the role of books in connecting languages, people, and civilizations.

The Pakistan pavilion also featured a photo exhibition marking the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations.

Three Pakistani companies and the country’s leading publishing institution participated in the exhibition. They presented a wide range of literary and cultural materials.

Ferozsons Promotes Pakistani Literature

Pakistani publishing house Ferozsons (Pvt.) Ltd. presented books covering history, philosophy, fiction, and poetry.

Established in 1894, Ferozsons has played a longstanding role in Pakistan’s publishing industry. The company also translates popular Chinese children’s books into Urdu.

As a result, young Pakistani readers can access Chinese literature in their native language. Such efforts also encourage cultural understanding between the two countries.

Rubab Performance Adds Cultural Touch

The opening ceremony also featured a performance on the rubab, a traditional Pakistani string instrument.

The performance attracted visitors and added a vibrant artistic element to the pavilion. It further showcased Pakistan’s rich musical heritage alongside its literary traditions.

Strengthening Pakistan-China People-to-People Ties

Overall, Pakistan’s participation highlighted the growing cultural dimension of bilateral relations. Literature, publishing, and traditional music provided platforms for greater understanding.

The pavilion therefore served not only as a showcase for Pakistani culture but also as a bridge between the people of Pakistan and China.
