Pakistan and Nigeria have agreed to strengthen their economic partnership, focusing on trade, investment, and broader bilateral cooperation. The discussions were held in Abuja between Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to Pakistan’s Prime Minister on Commerce, and Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Nigeria’s Foreign Minister.
Both countries expressed commitment to fast-track the Nigeria-Pakistan Bilateral Trade Agreement and introduced measures to ease visa issuance for businesspersons, investors, and tourists traveling between the two nations. Invitations were also extended for official visits to further strengthen relations.
The talks explored opportunities across key sectors including energy, agriculture, textiles, IT, pharmaceuticals, and halal trade, while emphasizing joint engagement in multilateral forums. Both sides showed strong political will to elevate Nigeria-Pakistan relations to a new level.
Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy with a population of over 230 million, offers a vast consumer market and dynamic workforce. Pakistan and Nigeria aim to convert these discussions into tangible economic gains and closer people-to-people connections in the near future.
