Pakistan Maritime Expo Concludes Successfully
The Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC) 2025 wrapped up, with 83 agreements worth $273 million (Rs76 billion) signed between local and international exhibitors. The four day event, held from November 3–6, featured 178 exhibitors, including 28 global firms and 150 local organizations, showcasing innovations, services, and cutting-edge maritime technologies.
Strong International Participation
The expo attracted 133 delegations from 44 countries across Europe, Asia, North and South America, Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East. Officials said the agreements send a strong signal of Pakistan’s commitment to strategic partnerships, technology transfer, and maritime sector capacity-building.
Boosting the Blue Economy
“The successful conclusion of PIMEC-25 highlights Pakistan’s potential as a maritime hub and its role in the regional Blue Economy,” said the Pakistan Navy. Despite a 1,046-km coastline along major trade routes, Pakistan’s maritime sector has faced challenges like limited fleet capacity, outdated ports, and declining seafood exports.
Vision for Sustainable Maritime Growth
The summit aligns with the government’s long-term vision to position Pakistan as a global blue economy hub by 2047. Officials emphasized investments in sustainable growth, energy security, climate resilience, and expanding commercial and technological capabilities in the maritime sector.
Strategic Benefits and Global Cooperation
The agreements signed at PIMEC aim to enhance infrastructure development, maritime trade, and international collaboration, further establishing Pakistan as a competitive destination for blue economy investment in the Indian Ocean region.
