Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has inaugurated Pakistan’s first Fishing Technology Museum in Karachi, marking a step toward modernising the fisheries sector. The facility showcases the transition from traditional fishing methods to advanced technologies.
The minister said the museum will serve as a platform for research, training and policy support by combining local knowledge with modern tools. Technologies such as AI-based sonar and eco-friendly fishing nets, he said, can help address overfishing and climate-related challenges.
Alongside the museum, a digital traceability application was introduced to track seafood from catch to consumer. Officials say the system will improve transparency, meet international compliance standards and strengthen Pakistan’s seafood export potential.
