Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Iran’s President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Friday, highlighting the strong mutual support between Pakistan and Iran during earlier external aggressions.
The leaders praised the successful 22nd Pak-Iran Joint Economic Commission meeting and discussed enhancing bilateral trade, operationalizing border markets, strengthening border security, and reviving transport links via the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul rail network.
PM Shehbaz urged the Afghan Taliban regime to address Pakistan’s security concerns regarding terrorism originating from Afghanistan. Both leaders also exchanged views on ongoing peace efforts in Gaza.
President Pezeshkian thanked the Prime Minister for the productive dialogue and expressed Iran’s commitment to deepening ties with Pakistan. The meeting reinforced the brotherly relations between the two nations, rooted in shared history, culture, and faith.
PM Shehbaz conveyed his warm regards to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, emphasizing continued high-level consultations to further strengthen bilateral relations.
