President Asif Ali Zardari met Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Doha to reaffirm and strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and China. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development, focused on economic cooperation, the next phase of CPEC, and regional stability.
President Zardari described China as Pakistan’s “iron brother” and highlighted the enduring trust, respect, and shared vision for peace and development. He thanked China for consistent support through economic and security challenges, noting that the partnership remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
Both leaders reviewed progress on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), now entering its second phase. President Zardari highlighted opportunities in infrastructure, industrial development, agriculture, and vocational training to promote sustainable growth and generate employment.
Vice President Han Zheng conveyed greetings from President Xi Jinping and reaffirmed Beijing’s long-term commitment to Pakistan’s economic and regional progress. He praised Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and combating terrorism and pledged ongoing collaboration under CPEC’s development plans.
The meeting was attended by First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar, reflecting Islamabad’s high-level support for bilateral collaboration. Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination on regional and international matters to ensure mutual growth and stability.
