PAF Leads Guard Change at Mazar-e-Quaid
PAF Leads Guard Change on Defence and Martyrs Day with a solemn ceremony at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi. Cadets from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Academy, Asghar Khan, assumed guard duties from Pakistan Rangers at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Air Vice Marshal Shahryar Khan, the chief guest, laid a floral wreath, paid tribute to the nation’s founder, and reviewed the PAF contingent after the guard change.
Shahryar Khan’s Strong Message on Defence Day
Addressing the ceremony, Shahryar Khan affirmed that the Pakistan Air Force has never disappointed the nation. “We stand ready on every front and will remain a solid wall in defence of the homeland,” he declared.
Referring to the May conflict, he highlighted the downing of six Indian fighter jets, including Rafales. “Next time, it won’t be 0-6 – it’ll be 60-0,” he said. He also noted that Operation Bunyanun Marṣuṣ rekindled the spirit of September 6, when Pakistan defeated enemy designs through unity and sacrifice.
Commitment Beyond Air Defence
The Air Vice Marshal explained that the guard-changing ceremony was more than tradition. It reaffirmed the PAF’s pledge to uphold Quaid-e-Azam’s vision of unity. He also stressed the Air Force’s contributions in disaster relief and humanitarian missions.
He credited Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu for modernising the PAF. “The skies of Pakistan are in strong and capable hands,” he assured.
Nationwide Defence and Martyrs Day Commemorations
Commanding officers at the event honoured martyrs and their families, promising to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty. Across the country, the 60th Defence and Martyrs Day was celebrated with fervour. Islamabad witnessed a 31-gun salute, while provincial capitals marked the day with 21-gun salutes. Special prayers in mosques were offered for peace, prosperity, and the martyrs of the nation.
