Pakistan and China have inaugurated the country’s first Centre of Excellence for Engineering Capacity Building in Islamabad. The new hub, launched by PowerChina International in cooperation with the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE), aims to train local engineers for key CPEC projects.
The centre will offer technical exchanges, Chinese construction expertise, and certification for major clean-energy and water projects. This initiative follows a June mutual-recognition agreement between CSE and the Pakistan Engineering Council to address labor shortages for Chinese contractors.
As the fourth global CSE-branded training hub, the Islamabad facility will provide hands-on learning, training modules, and joint workshops. It is designed to strengthen engineering skills, facilitate knowledge sharing, and support major bilateral power and transport projects under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Through on-site learning, training programs in China, and collaborative workshops, the centre aims to cultivate a new generation of engineers. Both countries plan to leverage their expertise to enhance technical cooperation, accelerate CPEC project execution, and boost professional growth for local engineers.
