The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health Department has released a province-wide health advisory following an increase in influenza cases, warning that the virus may continue spreading until April next year. The move comes after fresh guidance from the National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad.
According to the advisory, hospitals and health centers across the province have been directed to remain alert and implement preventive measures. The document outlines detailed recommendations for the prevention, management, and treatment of influenza, urging citizens to get vaccinated against seasonal flu as an effective safeguard.
Health officials cautioned that the infection poses higher risks for the elderly, young children, pregnant women, and people with chronic health conditions. They advised these groups to take extra care, avoid crowded places, and seek medical attention at the first sign of symptoms.
The department emphasized the importance of frequent handwashing, mask wearing, and maintaining personal hygiene to minimize transmission. Public awareness campaigns are also being launched to educate communities about prevention and early detection.
Authorities urged citizens to follow safety instructions strictly, noting that community cooperation is crucial to preventing large-scale outbreaks and protecting vulnerable populations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
