Gwadar Port completed its second commercial bunkering operation on July 29, marking another major step in Pakistan’s Blue Economy development.
The operation strengthens Gwadar’s position as an emerging maritime hub and highlights the port’s growing role in international shipping services.
During the activity, authorities supplied around 1,150 metric tonnes of Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (LSFO) to the LNG carrier M.V. EXCELERATE SHENANDOAH (IMO No. 9321768) at Gwadar Port.
Safe and Efficient Fuel Supply Operation
The bunkering process continued throughout the day and followed international safety and environmental standards.
The bunker barge M.T. MARINE ISTA travelled from Karachi to provide marine fuel to the vessel.
Moreover, the Gwadar Port Authority, Pakistan Customs, and other institutions worked together to complete the operation smoothly.
The teams followed all legal, regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements during the process.
Gwadar Strengthens Maritime Position
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said the successful operation shows Gwadar’s growing importance in global maritime trade.
He added that the government is improving port facilities, attracting investment, and offering better services to international shipping companies.
Furthermore, he said Gwadar’s development will support economic growth in Balochistan and across Pakistan.
More Shipping Opportunities Ahead
Gwadar Port Chairman Noor-ul-Haq Baloch said the latest operation demonstrates the port’s improved capacity and operational efficiency.
He explained that Gwadar can now provide reliable marine fuel services to international vessels.
As a result, expanded bunkering activities could attract more ships, increase investment, create business opportunities, and generate employment.
Gwadar’s Future as Maritime Hub
The expansion of bunkering services will help Gwadar compete as a regional maritime logistics centre.
In addition, authorities are working with relevant institutions to develop modern facilities and improve port operations.
