Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to digitizing the economy, streamlining public institutions, and ensuring merit-based recruitment in the public sector. Chairing a high-level meeting on Thursday, he emphasised that institutional reforms remain a top priority and stressed that there will be no compromise on merit and
transparency in hiring experts.
The meeting, which reviewed the progress of the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA), focused on the appointment of technical professionals in federal ministries and the government’s broader foreign investment strategy.
According to the briefing, 15 technical experts have already been appointed, with recruitment for an additional 47 positions currently in progress. Ministries have also nominated focal teams to shape investment strategies.
Comprehensive sectoral roadmaps have been finalized for Information Technology & Telecom, Railways, and Tourism, while frameworks for Food Security, Maritime Affairs, Minerals, Industry, Housing, and Energy are nearing completion. To support international outreach, pitch books covering 18 key economic sectors have been prepared, targeting investment from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Azerbaijan, Qatar, and Kuwait.
The prime minister reiterated the government’s resolve to fast-track reforms, enhance institutional efficiency, and attract strategic foreign investment through professional and transparent governance.
