Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has taken serious notice of the Gwadar water shortage and ordered authorities to immediately restore the Gwadar water supply through emergency tankers. His directive comes after mounting complaints from residents of Gwadar and nearby coastal areas who continue to struggle with a shortage of drinking water.
He issued the order during a high-level meeting on the city’s water crisis. The meeting included Gwadar MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, PHE Secretary Hashim Ghilzai, GPA Chairman Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, GDA Director General Moin Rehman Khan, and other senior officials.
CM Bugti instructed officials to begin tanker supply without delay until the Shadi Kour Dam resumes full flow. He emphasised that the distribution system must remain transparent, ensuring that every household receives its fair share. The chief minister warned that he would not tolerate corruption or mismanagement in tanker operations.
Bugti also expressed concern over the inadequate water flow from Shadi Kour Dam. He directed the administration to take urgent measures to improve supply and secure the equipment along the Shadi Kour line. He said these steps are vital for solving Gwadar’s recurring water problems in a sustainable manner.
Gwadar, a vital port city and CPEC hub, faces rising demand due to rapid population growth and limited resources. Frequent shortages affect not only households but also trade and commercial activities. The provincial government’s emergency plan to restore the Gwadar water supply via tankers aims to bring immediate relief. However, Bugti acknowledged that long-term solutions require better infrastructure and stronger water management policies.
The chief minister assured residents that his administration will monitor the distribution process closely and ensure that water reaches every part of Gwadar.
