Secretary Public Health Engineering (PHE) Muhammad Hashim Ghilzai conducted a detailed inspection of the Water Works Pumping Station in Gwadar on Friday to review the city’s water supply system.
During the visit, he examined the pumping station’s operational framework, machinery, and water distribution mechanism, including the rotation schedule recorded in the station register. Executive Engineer PHE Momin Baloch briefed the secretary on key challenges such as power shortages, limited storage tank capacity, and the lack of community water tanks.
Secretary Ghilzai directed officials to ensure fair and uninterrupted water supply, particularly in areas populated by underprivileged communities that lack proper storage facilities. He emphasised that no compromise should be made in this regard.
Later, the secretary also inspected new pumping tanks and modern machinery installed by the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA). Engineer Dad Karim Baloch and Sajid Sakhi accompanied him during the visit.
The inspection reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening Gwadar’s water infrastructure, with ongoing projects such as dams and pipelines aimed at addressing the city’s long-standing water challenges.
