Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived in New York to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where he will present Beijing’s perspective on global challenges and the future role of the UN.
During his five-day stay, Premier Li will attend the general debate as well as events hosted by China, including a high-level meeting on the Global Development Initiative. He will also meet UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and hold bilateral talks with leaders from various countries.
According to China’s Foreign Ministry, Li will share Beijing’s stance on the international landscape, propose solutions to pressing global issues, and outline key domestic and foreign policies, including the Global Governance Initiative. His address is expected to stress China’s vision for enhancing multilateralism, sustainable development, and global peace.
This year marks both the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UN and the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. On this occasion, China has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the principles of the UN Charter, renewing the organisation’s founding mission, and adapting it to modern realities.
Beijing emphasised that it wants the UN to play a stronger role in promoting peace, sustainable growth, and building a shared future for humanity.
