With the arrival of the Spring Festival, China is witnessing unprecedented growth in inbound tourism. International travelers are visiting major cities to enjoy vibrant cultural performances, interactive activities, and traditional holiday experiences, making the festival a major global attraction.
Young tourists, including students from Europe, are participating in themed festivities such as zodiac costume events and local photo experiences. Hotels across cities like Chengdu report near-full occupancy, as foreign visitors extend their stays to fully immerse themselves in the celebrations.
The northeastern city of Hunchun, on the border with Russia, has also seen a surge in cross-border travel. Since early 2026, over 58,000 travelers, including 44,000 foreigners, have passed through the port, reflecting a 74.8% year-on-year increase. Industry experts highlight that eased visa policies and improved travel facilitation are key drivers behind this record tourism growth.
