Experts at a conference held at Sindh University emphasised that CPEC to improve Pakistan food security agriculture should be treated as a national priority in the corridor’s next phase. They highlighted the importance of aligning infrastructure expansion with long-term economic planning and agricultural sustainability.
Speakers noted that road connectivity developed under CPEC has already reduced transportation costs for farmers and improved access to larger markets. They said cooperation with China in mechanised farming, modern irrigation, and seed development could significantly increase agricultural productivity in Pakistan.
Participants also stressed the need to establish agro-processing zones and strengthen Special Economic Zones to promote export-oriented agriculture. They called for policy continuity, transparency, and faster implementation of major infrastructure projects to ensure sustainable development and economic resilience.
