Chinese cuisine is attracting growing attention in Vietnam, especially among young people, as the aroma of dumplings and other traditional dishes filled the International Culinary Culture Festival 2025 in Hanoi last weekend.Ngo Thuy Trang, a senior student in Hanoi, shared her love for Chinese food, saying she enjoys its spicy flavors, soft textures, and slightly oily dishes. She added that Chinese cuisine has become part of her everyday meals.
Trang first discovered Chinese dishes through social media and online mukbang videos. Since then, she has frequently searched for restaurants offering Chinese-style food or ordered delivery to enjoy these flavors at home.She also expressed admiration for the regional diversity of Chinese cuisine, shaped by climate and culture, and hopes to visit China to experience authentic flavors firsthand.
Wang Lihui, vice chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, highlighted the growing interest among young consumers and said Vietnam’s population of around 100 million presents huge market potential for Chinese cuisine expansion.
Several Chinese food and beverage brands are already capitalizing on this demand. According to Super Hi International, Haidilao, the popular Chinese hotpot chain, earned roughly $43.6 million in Vietnam during the first half of 2025, contributing over ten percent of its global revenue.
