China has sent another batch of relief supplies and disaster response experts to Nepal following a deadly mudslide on August 26.
The supplies arrived in Kathmandu by air on Tuesday. They were selected based on Nepal’s immediate needs in the disaster-hit areas.
New Relief Supplies Arrive in Kathmandu
The latest aid package includes several emergency items. These include drones, DNA testing devices, testing reagents, water-purification equipment, and lighting gear.
Moreover, China had already sent its first batch of relief supplies to Nepal on Sunday. The latest shipment further expands China’s emergency support for the affected communities.
DNA Experts Join Disaster Response
Five Chinese DNA identification specialists also arrived with the supplies. They form the third team of Chinese aid experts sent to Nepal.
Upon arrival, the specialists travelled directly to the affected areas. They will assist Nepalese authorities with identification efforts and disaster response operations.
Death Toll Rises to 1,068
Nepalese authorities reported a sharp rise in the death toll on Tuesday. The mudslide has killed 1,068 people, while another 4,606 remain missing.
As search and relief operations continue, DNA identification technology could help authorities identify victims and support affected families.
China Expands Emergency Support
The latest deployment highlights China’s continued humanitarian assistance to Nepal. The relief effort combines essential equipment with technical expertise.
In addition, the use of drones, water-purification systems, and specialized DNA equipment can support multiple aspects of the ongoing disaster response.
