China has highlighted the key outcomes of President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Kyrgyzstan, describing the trip as an important step in strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Xi held talks and small-group discussions with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, practical cooperation, and international and regional issues.

China-Kyrgyzstan Ties Gain Momentum

Guo said China-Kyrgyzstan relations have developed rapidly in recent years. Cooperation has expanded across multiple sectors and contributed to economic development in both countries.

Xi called for stronger coordination between the two countries’ development strategies. He also encouraged greater exchanges on governance and more practical cooperation.

Furthermore, Xi stressed that political trust and mutual support remain the foundation of bilateral relations.

Railway and Belt and Road Cooperation

The two sides agreed to pursue high-quality cooperation on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.

The project is expected to strengthen regional connectivity and support economic development. Xi also called for more flagship projects in renewable energy and resource recycling.

In addition, China and Kyrgyzstan agreed to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence and other emerging sectors. Both sides will also work to ensure the success of the Belt and Road Joint Laboratory.

New Agreements Strengthen Partnership

During the visit, Xi and Japarov signed a joint declaration on the high-quality development of their comprehensive strategic partnership for the new era.

They also signed a treaty on permanent good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation. The two presidents witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents covering investment, transport, customs and sister-city relations.

Overall, more than 20 cooperation documents were signed in areas including science and technology, education, media and people-to-people exchanges.

China Supports Nepal’s Disaster Relief

Guo also provided an update on China’s assistance to Nepal following the recent disaster.

China planned to send a second batch of relief supplies, including drones, DNA testing equipment, water purification systems and lighting equipment.

Chinese DNA testing experts are also preparing to travel to affected areas. Beijing said it will continue supporting Nepal’s search, rescue and disaster relief efforts.

China Responds on Russia and Venezuela

The spokesperson also addressed several international issues during the press conference.

On China-Russia visa-free travel, Guo said mutual visa exemption would facilitate cross-border movement and promote exchanges between the two peoples.

Regarding Venezuela, he stressed that China-Venezuela economic cooperation is protected by international law and the laws of both countries. He added that China’s lawful rights and interests in Venezuela should be protected.

On the Ukraine crisis, Guo reiterated China’s support for peace talks and a political settlement.

China Highlights Global Governance Initiative

Guo also marked the first anniversary of President Xi’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI).

He said the initiative has received support from nearly 160 countries and international organizations. More than 60 countries have also joined the Group of Friends of Global Governance.

According to Guo, China has taken several steps to translate the initiative into practical outcomes. These include establishing international organizations and promoting reforms aimed at creating a more just and equitable global governance system.

China will continue supporting the UN-centered international system and multilateral cooperation. Guo added that China will host the Global Governance Forum in Xiong’an this autumn.

Focus on Regional Stability

The press conference also addressed China’s relations with Pacific island countries. Guo rejected claims of Chinese interference in Solomon Islands’ domestic affairs.

He reiterated China’s policy of non-interference and said Beijing respects the sovereignty, independence and choices of Pacific island countries.

China also reaffirmed its commitment to cooperation with Russia in energy and other sectors. Guo said both countries will continue deepening practical cooperation based on mutual respect and mutual benefit.
