China remained Pakistan’s largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) in July 2026. According to the latest data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Chinese investors contributed $63.2 million in net FDI during the month.

Pakistan received $178.6 million in total net FDI in July. This marked the first month of fiscal year 2026-27. Chinese investment accounted for around 35.4% of the total.

Pakistan Records $178.6 Million Net FDI

Pakistan recorded gross FDI inflows of $304 million in July. Meanwhile, investors repatriated or transferred $125.4 million out of the country.

As a result, net FDI stood at $178.6 million. A year earlier, Pakistan recorded $223.5 million in net FDI.

China Leads Foreign Investors

China recorded $104 million in gross inflows during July. Outflows stood at $40.8 million, leaving net investment of $63.2 million.

Canada ranked second with $35.8 million in net FDI. Hong Kong followed with $20.2 million, while Switzerland contributed $16.8 million.

The United Kingdom recorded $15.9 million, followed by the UAE with $10.2 million. Kuwait, South Korea, Bahrain, France, and Singapore also recorded positive net investment.

Financial Sector Attracts Most Investment

Financial and insurance activities attracted the highest net FDI at $63.3 million.

Electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply followed with $60.8 million. Meanwhile, wholesale and retail trade received $41.5 million.

Manufacturing attracted $13.2 million, while construction received $11.6 million.

Some Sectors Record Investment Outflows

Not all sectors recorded positive investment during the month. Mining and quarrying posted a net outflow of $22.8 million.

Similarly, the information and communication sector recorded a net outflow of $9.4 million.

China Maintains Leading Investment Position

Overall, China continued to play a major role in Pakistan’s investment landscape. Its $63.2 million contribution represented more than one-third of Pakistan’s total net FDI in July.

The figures highlight the continued importance of Pakistan-China economic ties as the country seeks to attract greater foreign investment and expand industrial activity.
