Shenlian Biomedical, the Gwadar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Sino Pharma Pvt Ltd have signed a tripartite agreement to develop the foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccine market in Gwadar and parts of Balochistan.
The agreement was signed in Shanghai on Thursday. It aims to strengthen cooperation in animal health, veterinary technology, and livestock development.
Three-Year Cooperation Agreement
Under the three-year agreement, Shenlian Biomedical will provide FMD vaccines, technical support, and compliance assistance.
Meanwhile, the Gwadar Chamber will coordinate local market development and liaise with relevant authorities. Sino Pharma Pvt Ltd, also known as Celer Farm, will serve as the exclusive regional commercial agent.
The partnership will initially focus on South African Type 1 FMD vaccines. These vaccines will target livestock such as sheep, beef cattle, and dairy cattle.
Joint Animal Vaccine Laboratory Planned
The partners also discussed plans to establish a joint animal vaccine laboratory in Gwadar.
The proposed facility could support research and technical cooperation in veterinary medicine. Moreover, it could strengthen local capacity in animal health and livestock development.
Focus on Market Access and Compliance
Before commercial sales begin, the partners will prioritize product registration and market-access approvals.
In addition, the three parties will share market information. This will include demand trends, competitor prices, and tender updates.
The Gwadar Chamber will also support product promotion and channel development. It will work with agriculture, livestock, and regulatory authorities to facilitate market entry.
Potential Expansion Beyond Balochistan
The agreement initially covers Gwadar and selected areas of Balochistan. However, the partners may later expand cooperation to other parts of Pakistan.
They could also explore opportunities in neighboring South Asian markets. As a result, the partnership has potential to develop into a broader regional animal health initiative.
Strengthening China-Pakistan Cooperation
The three partners said they will follow principles of equality, mutual benefit, long-term commitment, and regulatory compliance.
Furthermore, the proposed vaccine laboratory could create new opportunities for China-Pakistan cooperation in livestock and veterinary technology.
The agreement will remain valid for three years. It will receive priority for renewal if the project remains profitable and the partners meet their obligations.
