China has provided life-support services to 1,720 Nepali border residents affected by a mudslide in Gyirong County, Xizang. Authorities continue search and rescue operations following the disaster on August 26.

The Xizang Emergency Rescue Command Headquarters said teams are using land, water, and air routes to search for missing people.

Rescue and Resettlement Efforts Continue

Ren Wei, executive vice chairman of the Xizang government, briefed reporters on the latest rescue operations. He said authorities are making every effort to find missing people and assist affected communities.

Meanwhile, officials have relocated and resettled residents from affected areas. Authorities have also evacuated 555 stranded domestic tourists to safety.

Authorities Verify Missing Persons

Rescue authorities are conducting detailed identification procedures for every reported missing person. They are collecting information through several channels.

These include entry and exit records and communication positioning data. Officials are also carrying out door-to-door checks to verify identities.

Furthermore, authorities are responding directly to requests from family members seeking information about missing relatives.

24-Hour Support for Families

Four round-the-clock service hotlines are now operating for domestic and foreign families. Staff members provide updates, emotional support, and assistance during the identification process.

Authorities have also introduced a special task-force and dedicated file for each missing person. This system allows officials to track information and respond to individual family requests.

Continued Support for Affected Communities

The rescue operation combines emergency response with resettlement and humanitarian support. China is continuing efforts to assist affected residents while authorities work to establish the status of every missing person.

The response also highlights cross-border cooperation and humanitarian assistance for communities affected by the mudslide.
