The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has completed more than 10 infrastructure and development projects during the 2026-27 fiscal year. The projects cover roads, drainage, sports facilities, education, and public infrastructure.
The completed work aims to improve connectivity and public services across Gwadar. It also supports the city’s broader urban development.
Major Road Projects Completed
Several key road projects have reached completion. These include the construction and blacktopping of Demi Zar Road and Ustad Abdul Majeed Gwaderi Road.
The GDA also completed seven link roads at East Bay. Moreover, teams finished road connections between Marine Drive, Eidgah, Shaheen Chowk, and DHQ Hospital Road.
Other completed works include the road from Shaheen Chowk to Ustad Abdul Majeed Gwaderi Road. Road construction from the C&W Office to the RCD Highway has also been completed.
Sports and Public Facilities Upgraded
The development program also included several public facilities. These projects include Sorg Dil Ground and the Young Jan Volleyball and Futsal Ground.
In addition, the GDA completed rehabilitation work at Eidgah. It also provided furniture for Government Girls High School and Boys High School.
New Projects Receive Approval
GDA Director General Moin ur Rehman Khan chaired meetings to review the physical and financial progress of development schemes.
During the Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP) meeting, officials approved several new projects. These include the rehabilitation of Marine Drive from Governor House to Pishukan.
The approved schemes also cover Central Park’s boundary wall and the GDA Club boundary wall. Furthermore, authorities approved allied works for the Marine Drive causeway and a new causeway at Surbandar.
The proposed drip irrigation project on Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi Road remains subject to funding availability.
Water and Drainage Projects Progress
Water supply remains another major focus of the GDA development program. Several water projects in villages of Kalanch have been completed, with supply services now operational.
Meanwhile, construction of the sewage treatment plant at Central Park is nearing completion. The GDA has also started work on another new sewage treatment plant.
Officials are also developing a direct drainage outlet to Demi Zar. The project aims to improve water drainage near Bilal Mosque.
Old Town Rehabilitation Continues
The Old Town Rehabilitation Project covers several important areas. These include an integrated road network and street paving across different wards.
The project also includes upgrades to Shahi Bazaar and Jannat Bazaar. In addition, authorities are working on Eidgah, football, futsal and volleyball grounds.
Healthcare and education facilities are also part of the rehabilitation plan. Other works include a cemetery boundary wall, prayer area, façade improvements, and the Model Mohalla Project.
GDA Orders Strict Quality Control
During the meetings, DG GDA Moin ur Rehman Khan stressed transparency and strict project supervision. He directed engineers to ensure timely completion and maintain public interest.
Moreover, he expressed concern over complaints about some ongoing works under the Old Town Rehabilitation Project.
He instructed engineers to remain present at project sites and closely monitor construction. He also warned that negligence in project quality or progress would not be tolerated.
Focus on Sustainable Development
The GDA chief further directed officials to follow engineering standards and construction specifications. He emphasized the need for durable and high-quality public facilities.
Overall, the completed and approved schemes represent a continued push to improve Gwadar’s infrastructure. The focus on roads, water, drainage, education, and public spaces could further enhance services for local communitiers.
