First Lady Asifa Bhutto Zardari has called for stronger Pakistan-China collaboration in health and education, highlighting the need to expand joint efforts in cardiology, medical training, and research exchange.
Speaking at the Mid-Autumn Festival: A Shared Beaming Moon, All United Hearts and Hands hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, she praised Chinese doctors for their commitment to treating Pakistani children with heart conditions. Asifa Bhutto Zardari said both nations must continue working “to protect the health of our children” through innovation and partnership.
She emphasised that expanding Pakistan-China cooperation in health would help build local medical expertise, improve treatment capacity, and promote hospital-to-hospital exchanges. The First Lady also paid tribute to her mother, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, for her dedication to healthcare reforms and child welfare.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong commended Chinese medical teams for their successful treatment of Pakistani children. He reaffirmed Beijing’s support for Pakistan’s healthcare development, saying China seeks not only its own progress but also the well-being of people worldwide. The ambassador announced an upcoming international health conference in Beijing to further strengthen global medical collaboration.
He also recalled President Asif Ali Zardari’s recent visit to China, during which both sides explored new areas of cooperation in trade, culture, and education. Jiang praised the “iron brotherhood” between Pakistan and China, describing their friendship as “higher than mountains and deeper than seas.”
The event celebrated cultural harmony and humanitarian cooperation between the two nations, underscoring that deepening Pakistan-China ties in health and education can bring long-term benefits for future generations.
